SHIP: Fluttershy x Fleur dis Lee from Anchor Foal: A Romantic Cringe Comedy

Fleur regarded the bowl being presented to her with some skepticism. "Manticore, you say?"

Her love nodded. She'd let her hair back down after returning from scouting, allowing it to cover most of her face again. Considering they'd been ambushed by such a notorious monster, Fleur wasn't too surprised by this, but still. She worried for Fluttershy.

"It's not poison," Fluttershy whispered. "Manticores are venomous, not poisonous, and they keep it all in their tails anyways. Applejack made sure there wasn't any cross-contamination, so..."

"You didn't help with the butchery, did you?"

"It's fine," said Fluttershy too quickly.

A moment of silence passed as Fleur gave her time to simmer in that statement.

"I'm a healer, it's not like I haven't seen worse," her love finally spoke up again.

"I'm going with you if we have to do this again," said Fleur. Having grown up on a ranch, it wasn't as though this was an unreasonable suggestion for the distribution of labor.

"You'll exhaust your magic too quickly," Fluttershy pointed out.

"I could still help."

"...maybe when we get to the lower floors."

Fluttershy looked away from her in that moment, and Fleur got the feeling she'd pushed too far. She needed to do something to redirect the conversation. So she lifted a spoonful of manticore soup to her lips and drank.

Fleur had been prepared to fake it, but the delighted gasp that escaped her mouth was genuine. Savory flavors bolstered by the bitter contrast of the plants they'd gathered, alongside some well-placed herbs and spices made for a meal beyond anything she'd been expecting.

"You like it?" asked Fluttershy nervously.

"Honestly, I think you could get away with serving it in a proper tavern," said Fleur after another hearty spoonful. "Assuming you could somehow work out the logistics."

"That's good to hear," Fleur was rewarded with a smile from her love, small but warm as any sun.
