“What do Grimm… eat?”

Cinder shrugs, shovelling more river water into her mouth. The bone spires on her shoulders ripple in the light. “I don’t know,” she says off Winter’s concerned look, “I just eat whatever.”

“...Right,” Winter says.

“Can’t have meat that’s been dead for too long, though,” she adds. “Like, more than 24 hours.”

“And that’s what we’re… doing,” Winter finishes. She feels sort of out of place here, lodged inbetween two worlds. Her supervisors would kill her if they knew she was doing this; Cinder — well, she wouldn’t kill her, but she would get very mopey about it if Winter didn’t help her.

“Yeah.” Cinder stands up, unfurling. In Grimm form like this, she’s two feet taller than Winter, rippling with spears of bone and black liquid. To be honest, it’s kind of hot. “Deer are good, I like deer.”

The first time they met, Cinder was trying to pack an entire deer flank into her fridge. “I gathered,” Winter says.
