ship: winter/cinder

Winter has just managed to hit her stride when Cinder slams the thickest binder she’s ever seen down in front of her and says, “You too?”
Winter looks down at her notes. Back up at Cinder. “... Yes? I’m studying for the Grimm 102 tomorrow.”
“Yeah,” Cinder says. “You want anything?’’
“Anything…?”
She gestures towards the kitchenette. “I was going to make myself something to eat while I read my notes. Do you like spaghetti?” And in a smaller voice, “That’s the only thing I know how to cook.”
“Uh,” Winter says eloquently, “sure, if you feel like cooking.”
Cinder tilts her head to the side for a moment, thinking. Winter always thought that expression of hers made her look exceptionally pretty. Maybe if they both pass this exam she’ll do something about it. “How about you read your notes out loud, I cook?”
“Alright, I can do that.”
“Cool,” Cinder says. “Start at the beginning.”
Winter flicks back through her notes to the start of the folder while Cinder starts raiding the cupboards. She’s never really… revised with anyone before like this. People usually don’t want to spend time around her, and she’d be lying if she said it didn’t sting. It’s probably partially her fault, but she can’t help coming off as standoffish; it’s just how she was raised.
Cinder, though — Cinder has never seemed put off by her. Winter clears her throat and starts reading out loud, and the entire time something warm burns in her chest that she can’t quite shake.
