Date: 2025-05-26 07:36 am (UTC)“Yeah,” she grumbled. “And that annoys me.”
Lenora laughed. “Don’t be so uptight, Doctor.”
“I’m not a doctor! I can’t believe I’m stuck dealing with you!” She looked up from her phone where she’d been reading up on how to quickly raise blood pressure. “Cross your legs and squeeze. I’m bringing you a coffee. Don’t die while I’m gone.”
“Aye, aye.”
Isadora rushed out of the room and grabbed her thermos of coffee from the morning, then a cup. She hurried back to the bedroom and poured out a generous amount for Lenora to drink. “Sit up and drink. This should bump up your numbers.”
Lenora sat up, but she immediately seemed to be seized by a dizzy spell. She grabbed onto the nightstand, gaze fixed on the opposite wall as she tried to steady herself. “Hey, Doctor…”
“What is it?”
“Can you help me drink? I’m— I’m kind of scared to let go.”
Isadora cursed under her breath, not really because she was expected to help — she would’ve done that either way — but because she wasn’t a real doctor, and she didn’t have the hospital equipment to monitor Lenora’s vitals constantly. All she had was a stupid blood pressure cuff. “Okay, just take it slow. I’ll help you drink.”
She carefully put the cup to Lenora’s lips, tilting it slowly so she could drink. Gulp by gulp, Lenora finished it up and lay back down. Isadora immediately put the cup aside and took the blood pressure cuff for another reading.
82/60. Pulse 51. For goodness’ sake.
“The coffee should bring it up soon,” she said in a shaky voice. “You hear me? It should fix it soon.”
Lenora was pale as a ghost, but she grinned at her. “I trust your medical expertise.”
“I don’t have— Whatever. I’m glad you trust it.”
