“Winter, I swear to god, if you’re —”
“I don’t even know how to drive, dearest,” Winter says placidly, switching the ear her phone is pressed to, “it’s not my fault the bus won’t fucking start.”
The driver glares at her. He probably didn’t deserve that comment, to be fair, but there’s very little keeping Winter from completely obliterating an entire city block right now from the sheer force of her irritation. The sole consolation is that Cinder is having a worse time.
“If I just spell you over do you think you’ll —”
“No,” Winter says.
“But —”
“No. You’ll be out of commission for the rest of the week. And you’ll probably overshoot and teleport the bus.”
“I will not,” Cinder says indignantly.
Someone leans on their car horn. Winter steps off the bus, resolving to walk the rest of the way home, and just about keeps herself from pelting a spear of ice directly through the offender’s windshield. She’s been trying to get better about resorting to violence, at least when it comes to mild annoyances. Like the bus breaking down.
“Okay, while I’m walking, do you need anything else?”
“You,” Cinder mutters.
“Anything else aside from me?”
“No…”
“Do you have the runes prepared?”
“Yeah.”
Winter pauses, contemplating. “Maybe if you just teleported my groceries —”
Cinder huffs. “And then I’d end up with half of your limbs. Just get home, we’ll figure something else out.”
“Your wonderful imagination and way with words are part of why I married you, you know.”
