ship: winter/cinder
-
“What are you making?”
“Marble cake, so don’t fuck this up,” Cinder says without looking up.
Winter doesn’t answer, and for a moment she thinks she’s safe. Marble cake is her favourite, so there’s less incentive to mess with her while she’s baking, and —
Her hand appears in Cinder’s field of view. Cinder swats it away, but she still manages to get a fistful of flour from the bowl and throw it in her face. At least she doesn’t have her prosthetic in; that would have fucked it up pretty badly, and that’s possibly the only thing saving Winter from all-out war right now.
“Are you having fun?”
Winter’s hand dips back out of her view. Cinder doesn’t turn to look, but she can hear the smirk in her voice. “Yes, actually.”
“Good,” Cinder says, and upends the whole bag over her head.
-
She manages to get Winter pinned under her, completely covered in flour and laughing. It’s one of her greatest victories, to be honest. Seeing Winter laugh like this is kind of — magical. Even if she did douse Cinder in flour too.
She stops putting up a fight when Cinder leans down to kiss her. There must be flour all over her hair by now; she’s not helping by driving her fingers into it.
“I’m never getting that marble cake,” she says against Cinder’s mouth.
“Never,” Cinder agrees.
